The National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are recognition programs for American junior high and high school students who show achievement in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Eighth graders and high school sophomores are eligible to submit a packet in the fall. Induction for new members is in the fall. As per the NHS constitution, freshmen are not eligible for admission. The students who meet the academic requirements for admission may obtain an application and submit it for further review by the selection committee. The NHS and NJHS members are required to maintain an 87% average (unweighted, unrounded) throughout their studies. They must attend regular monthly meetings and be involved in the NHS and NJHS group projects.
