Gifts of cash are the easiest to make. Credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Also, personal and business checks and money orders can be made payable to New Testament Baptist Church or Dade Christian School.
Employers like to support causes dear to the hearts of their employees. Your company may be willing to match your gift if it has a matching gift program, sometimes on a two (2) to one (1) basis. Just ask your Human Resources officer and let us know, please.
Gifts of Securities:
Securities that are worth more today then when you bought them and that you have held for more than one (1) year would cause you to pay a capital gains tax if you sold them.
Gifts of Real Estate:
Any real estate such as a house, farm, undeveloped or developed land may be given outright. You could give a house and, for example retain the right to live in it during your lifetime. You would receive an immediate tax deduction as a charitable gift and also claim deductions through your lifetime in subsequent maintenance costs.
Gifts of Life Insurance:
In order to receive a charitable deduction for a gift of life insurance policy, simply name Dade Christian School as the owner and beneficiary of the policy. If annual premiums are still being paid, those premiums become tax deductions also.
If your decision is to make a gift of securities, real estate, or life insurance, we strongly recommend that you consult with your financial advisor.
